(Lamenting the Inconsistency of Life)

In 1998, our family made a profound decision. My husband wrapped up his 20-year career in Taiwan and the whole family moved all the way across the Pacific Ocean to Victoria to start anew. All of our family and friends were shocked at first and then their initial shock turned into envy. Life is short, and you win some and you lose some. It is not possible to have everything and a truly wise person understands well what to pursue and what to let go. It is simply not possible to "steer a car with your left hand and steer a boat with your right hand." This sentence has always stuck with me. |
